One Billion Rising for Justice is a global campaign of the V-Day movement to end violence against women and girls. According to UN statistics, 1 in 3 women will be raped or beaten in her lifetime, amounting to over 1 billion people on the planet. To end this violence, one billion women and the men who love them will rise for justice.
In our diverse communities, each of us has a role to play in ending devastating violence that is directed against women and girls. Your justice might be committing to safe and consensual sex; or highlighting misogyny directed at trans* and queer women. Your justice might be rising and recovering from violence and reclaiming healthy sexuality. Your justice could be talking about this issue within your culture or tribe or rising against rape culture on campus.
EVENT SCHEDULE:
12 noon Flagpole is home base for flag creation and display. Flagpoles are located just above Barclay Theater across the Campus bridge.
12:30 March through Campus with Flags distributing free condoms and literature
Flags will be provided and created on site at the flagpoles. March through campus will last about half hour and include distribution of 1200 free condoms to encourage safe and consensual sex!
UCI parking structure is located adjacent to the event.
